Rani Free couldn’t be more opposite of Nick Ferris if she tried.

That being said…

Rani is a native New Yorker, born and raised in NYC and Long Beach,
Long Island.  It’s a barrier island actually.  She’s the only child of a native
Israeli/astrologer/singer mom and Brooklyn born/Sicilian/ musician dad.
Her interest in the arts started at a very young age, growing up as her
father’s groupie - frequenting gigs, loving the NYC nightlife, and
occasionally sleeping on a cot at CBGB’s at the ripe old age of nine.

By the time she matured at the age of twelve she auditioned for a band
playing the sax but ultimately couldn’t play by ear. Undeterred, Rani was
determined to do something creative, the question was what though.
Writing seemed the obvious channel to pursue, and when she was
fifteen she entered a poetry contest  and became a published poet.
Rani subsequently graduated from Long Island University with a BA in Political Science and realized that there
was no way in the world she wanted to spend her life behind a desk. It was this desk loathing that led to her
acting love affair. Rani auditioned for the acclaimed Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theater in NYC
and graduated 2 years later with a newfound love of theater, feeling especially accomplished when her favorite
acting teacher introduced himself to her mother saying, “It’s a pleasure to meet you.  Your daughter has balls”.

Since graduating Rani has performed in many off (and off-off) Broadway shows, co-founded a theater
company, and has been a core member/writer of the all girl theater group “Angry Jellow Bubbles”.  Rani has
performed with “AJB” throughout the U.S. as well as the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland.

At the age of (ahem!) she packed her car to the rim, and drove cross country to LA to perform a regular gig with
AJB and build a new home in California. It was there she starved herself and got many acting jobs. Performing
with several theater companies in just about every theater in LA, she also found time in front of the camera as
a commentator on E! Network, host on AMC, and many indie pilots such as “Alpha Mail”, which made it to the
HBO Comedy Festival in Aspen, and was optioned by Comedy Central.

Having conquered LA, Rani Free returned NYC where she filmed two shorts, performed at “The Box” on the
Lower East Side with AJB, co-wrote and performed at the launch for a new “Hanes” line, and filmed a pilot,
currently being pitched by a production company for an AJB television show.

This is Rani’s first art exhibition and the journey to create the images has transformed her entire outlook and
appreciation of art. “Regrets”, she hopes, will evoke laughter, introspection, and maybe clarity into why we have
regrets, why they change our lives, and often how silly it is to regret anything at all.  She truly has had a blast
helping to create this show with Nick, and would like to thank him for putting up with her neurosis, even though
he claims to have lost count of her personalities.
Regrets is donating all proceeds to:
